This morning as I made my daily scroll down my Instagram timeline to see what I missed, I came across a disturbing screen capture.

If you search in Google Maps “N*gga House” or “N*gger House” locally or even “N*gga House DC” from out of town, directions to the White House will appear. WHAT? 😒

nigga_house_the_white_house_the_bobbypenI had to try it for myself to see if it was a Photoshop prank to get us all bent out of shape, and well… it’s not.

After reading a few related articles on the web to see if anyone had gotten some answers, all I found was prank pontification and declined responses from Google.  While Google Maps does in fact rely on it’s users’ feedback to ensure map accuracy, how has this “glitch” gone unnoticed for over 18 hours, since the first public story had been reported?

Google hacker, Bryan Seely, created fake listings for the US Secret Service and the FBI in Google Maps back in February 2014. Seely told Search Engineland the following technique:

You create a business in Google Maps at an address where you can receive mail and with a phone number you can receive calls to. You get Google to send you a verification postcard to the address. Once the business is verified, you delete it from your account. Then you use another Google account to claim this now orphaned business. You gain control over it by doing verification via phone. Once that’s happened, you’re free to move the business to anywhere you want, change the name and alter other details.

I’m not sure what to make of this, but I don’t like it. How offensive!?

What do you think about this blatant disrespect the President of The United States?
