Abyss

Rictascale Records, LLC is an idependent record lable out out Philadelphia, Pa. They are currently tearing it up overseas in London and Sweden. The lable wants to introduce you to two of their artists, rapper Abyss from Philly, and lead singer in Sweden’s Pop band O’Spada, Julia Spada. Both acts have a certain appreciation for the 80’s, and incorprate elements from the era in their music.

Abyss, who was born William Honesty, is a vocalist, songwriter, and producer who’s been rapping since the ’90’s. His sound– drawing inspiration from the bands of the late 70’s and early 80’s–
blends electro, funk, hip-hop, soul, and retro R&B. He calls it the “futuristic Motown sound.” Abyss has been fortunate enough to perform in Paris and BET’s festival held at the Turks & Caios Islands. Right now, he is in Sweden working on his debut 2-part EP Sonic Transition: Acts 1 &2 set to be released in early 2011.

Julia Spada.

Julia Spada has been singing in Stolkholm, Sweden with her band O’Spada since 2006. Just a couple of years later, the band inked a deal with Despotz Records, which afforded them two singles “Time” and “Ten Strikes;” following the lead of Dance-Pop acts like Prince. The band’s album was set to be released in 2010, but in the meantime Julia has been working on her solo project. The first single is titled “Hard to Get.” It gives me a Kelis vibe.
