Taking to the Stage

Late 2010 is bringing a lot of interesting shows to stages in Washington and NYC.

Marvel comic character Spider-Man will swing onto Broadway December 21st at Foxwoods Theatre. The show titled, “Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark,” will feature music and lyrics by legendary rock artists Bono and The Edge. After six years of planning and some minor fiscal setbacks, this show is expected to be one of the most expensive productions in Broadway history. Preview performances will begin November 14th announced lead producer Micheal Cohl on Tuesday.

Here in DC, the Mead Center for American Theater will open November 9th with the premier of “Every Tongue Confess” by playwright Marcus Gardley. The lead will be played by none other than Phylicia Rashad– TV’s Clair Huxtable. This show will run through January 2nd, and commemorate the inaugural reopening of the Arena Stage where President & First Lady Obama will serve as honorary chairs of the season.

I’m sure tickets will be hard to come by, but these seem like must sees. After seeing Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King on Broadway, I’m excited for the idea of bringing Spidy’s senses to the stage. I wonder if I can get my posterior in a seat at the Spider-Man show. He is my right-hand man…????
