This Friday the newest cast member of R&B Divas LA, Brave Williams, hosted an exclusive premiere party in her hometown of Baltimore. The Rich Girl singer joins fellow ” href=”https://www.thebobbypen.com/lil-mo-talks-fourth-album-tell-all-book-and-starring-in-bet-movie-video/” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>B-more babe Lil’ Mo, as she follows behind ” href=”https://www.thebobbypen.com/bobbypens-5-minutes-with-sevyn-streeter-video/” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>ex-band mate Sevyn Streeter to pursue a solo career. The fourth season of the series will chronicle the budding starlet’s journey.

During the intimate interview and premiere party, Brave discussed her time with the girl group, striking out on her own and what it was like filming a Reality TV show.

She revealed that she actually coordinated Rich Girl by selecting “kindred spirits,” but attributes the group’s downfall to too many chefs in the kitchen. Despite the group’s career never really getting off the ground, she still has love for the girls and welcomes the opportunity to work together again in some capacity.

Here are some highlights from the interview:

Did you have any reservations during the shooting of the show?

Yes, it was a very prayerful process for me, with all the cameras around. I thought, “Don’t call yourself Brave, and not live up to it.”

Where was your inspiration for [your debut solo] album title [Fearless]?

Fear has never told me the truth.

Are you your entire self on [R&B Divas LA]?

I was myself but it will be interesting to see how they will edit it. I want my children in the future to be proud of me. I think my family will be proud.

What did you get out of doing the show?

Be in something but not of it. There is a certain civil and respectful way to handle situations

How did you get your name?

Through spoken word. Someone said to me, “You are really brave.” So I stuck with that.

What was the bravest thing you’ve done in your career?

Madison Square Garden. I was used to performing in front of about 100 people, but that was 60,000 people, and that was brave.

Have you ever felt the need to give up?

Yes, the year the group separated I lost my manager [of seven years] from a heart attack, and then my dad, so I questioned if I should continue.
