On Thursday, soul singer Jazmine Sullivan performed hits for a sold out crowd at the Fillmore Silver Spring just at the outskirts of Washington, D.C.

Just before covering fan favorites like “Dumb,” “Bust Your Windows,” and “Lions, Tigers and Bears” with crazy, high-energy electric guitar, a roaring crowd welcomed Sullivan as she emerged from red satin curtains declaring she’s “Brand New.”

On the other side of her extremely brief interlude, as to not keep her fans waiting, she got back to the show and belted out uptempo tracks “If You Dare” and “Stupid Girl” before belting out a soulful reprise to “Forever Don’t Last” complete with gospel organ chords and a dazzling display of vocal range.

In the final segment of the show, Jazmine Sullivan opted for a solo spotlight and center stage solo performance of Reality Show tracks “Masterpiece,” “Good Luv,” “Mascara” and debut smash single “I Need You Bad.”

The lights went dim, she left the stage and a few fans dispersed… After 2 minutes of cheering Jazmine Sullivan returned the stage with a chuckle and crowd pleasing finale of “In Love with Another Man.”

Jazmine-sullivan-bobby-pen-thebobbypenI actually got to meet Jazmine Sullivan after the show (suuuuuper cool and friendly) when she told me that she was a slightly disappointed because she was a little under the weather and didn’t feel she sounded her best. My response? LIES! She’s obviously a perfectionist because while she did elicit crowd participation a few times during the show, she was in phenomenal voice.

Tonight she rings in the new year in her hometown, Philadelphia, Pa. to tear down the TLA. Hope you’ve got your tickets. You’re in for a treat!
