Jay-Z sat in on Oprah’s Master Class to chime in on the current racial tensions in the country. He says he believes, “Hip-Hop has done more for racial relations than most cultural icons… save Martin Luther King.”

His “very interesting take on the cultural impact of Hip-Hop” mentions the integration of nightclubs, how it’s been able to travel around the world and suggests racism is harder to teach at home “when your kid looks up to Snoop Doggy Dogg.” Jay-Z credits Hip-Hop for spurring those conversations between the races that allow us to see that we’re more alike than we are separate.

I appreciate his insight and I believe it has some validity. It may be a little more idealistic than I can subscribe to, but how do you think Hip-Hop has impacted our society?
