Last week I had the chance to catch up with the Morgan, J.L. Arielle and Bobbie– collectively known as Good Girl. The dolls were in town for a press day and we got to vibe over pastries and mimosas early last Sunday morning, like all girlfriends do. We had a blast getting to know each other and I got to pick their brains, asking them everything from how did they come up with their name to where do they see themselves in the next 5 years.

Each member of the creative quartet brings so much life excitement to the mix. They’re songwriters, and choreographers, and hair & makeup stylists, but most importantly, they’re stupid talented. Have you heard them sing a cappella? Check it out here.

Ok, so the quick and simple of this two-part interview series goes like this:

• They were given their group name by a creative host at the artist showcase in which they first performed as a group
• They plan to bring “real”  music back by infusing 90’s vibes with contemporary beats and sounds
• They LOVE Luke James! No, they really love him.
• 90’s Kind of Love is their first EP and features other up & coming artists Dunson and Philly’s own Asia Sparks.
• Megan was a solo artist first. J.L. and Bobbie danced backup for her once and the audience loved it.
• They love listening to Elle Varner, Jhene Aiko, Mila J, Tamar Braxton and FKA Twigs.
• Megan is not a “turn-uper.” However, when the girls get her out, she gets it in!
• The girls admire Xscape, SWV, EnVogue, Whitney Houston, Brandy and Monica to name a few
• They’re recreated the Black Lily movement with “Girls League” which launched Philly Neo-Soul artists like Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, Jazmine Sullivan and Floetry
• The girls expect to be global in 5 years, and rallying behind several social issues
