Eric Roberson Live at The Howard TheatreLast night DC’s historic and newly renovated Howard Theatre was sold-out by loyal fans of independent industry vet Eric Roberson. The packed house enjoyed the vocal stylings of the R&B, Neo-Soul crooner as well as his theatrical and comedic chops. Roberson, Howard University alumnus, recalled walking pass this dilapidated relic where many of his musical role models left their legacy and longed to perform on the same stage as greats like James Brown, The Jackson 5 and Tina Turner. He said he had always wished the ruins would be rebuilt and was grateful to have his dream come true last night.

The show included performances of his classics like “Still,” “Can I Borrow You,” “Feelings,” “Mr. Nice Guy” and by audience requests “The Moon” and “Softest Lips.” Drummer, “Rain Man” said playing for Roberson is like being on the football field listening for “audibles” or changes to the set lists, “I have to be quick on my toes.” says “Rain Man.”

After the show TheBobbyPen.com had the chance to talk to the husband, father of two, 8 albums and counting, Grammy nominated entertainer Eric Roberson to discuss life on the road, his latest efforts as part of Gospel group United Tenors and his time in school in DC. Check out the video here.
