Digital content producers interested in journalism, new media or other related field are welcome to apply for TheBobbyPen.com’s Spring 2014 Internship Cohort!

TheBobbyPen.com is looking to fill positions in its photo, editorial and marketing departments for the first time this year. The duration of positions coincide with university schedules’ Spring semester. The inaugural cohort is expected to last 21 weeks (January through May) with flexible hours. Selected contributors are expected to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week or one post per day.

The 21-week program will encourage qualified and motivated contributors to work in a digital newsroom applying the skills they’ve learned in class or acquired as a hobby to an evolving popular online publication.

All contributors must be

  • 18 years or older
  • able to commit to a work schedule of 3-5 days per week, for a minimum 10 hours per week
  • access to Google Hangouts for weekly web conference
  • reliable transportation when necessary
  • detail oriented and highly motivated
  • able to coordinate multiple work streams for on-time  project delivery
  • able to write creative and relevant copy for promotional use
  • demonstrate the ability to learn and absorb quickly
  • eager to learn and be proactive with new tasks
  • conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times
  • passionate about music, entertainment, arts & theater and cultural events

TheBobbyPen.com is excited to welcome new contributors, however, there is no pay for your contribution. If interested in academic credit, please be sure to ask your academic adviser to verify that this internship would qualify for credit hours.**

Editorial Intern

There are positions available for contributors with a niche in at least one content category below. However, all contributors are expected to be creative and flexible.

Successful contributors will be able to generate fresh story ideas, conduct informative interviews, produce detailed event recaps, assist with news coverage, prepare text for web, develop SEO-friendly headlines and promote posts on social media.

Photo Intern

Photo interns’ responsibilities include support for the department staff, organizing files using naming conventions, successfully completing photo assignments, preparing files in Photoshop and Lightroom, develop stock photo database for future story assignments, and upload images to content management system.

Previous photo editing experiences through former internships, college courses and/or independent work a plus.

Marketing Promotions Intern

TheBobbyPen.com’s Marketing and Promotions team will assist in the implementation and maintenance of promotional programs designed to drive traffic to the site and social media channels. Student’s responsibilities include quality assurance, tracking and analytics.

  • Update and maintain master promotions tracking documents using Google Drive
  • Track marketing exposure for promotional campaigns
  • Assist in the creation and deployment of marketing collateral such as email campaigns, social posts, and on-site merchandising
  • Review placement, tracking codes, links, etc. for TheBobbyPen.com controlled assets

Social Media Intern

Social Media Interns are expected to create signage, newsletters, email campaigns and online promotions, provide support to social media efforts to target new audiences, assist with special events to promote company and increase attendance, promote external ads transparently, research and analyze competitor marketing and sales materials, and collaborate on team presentations for management clients.
