You’ve heard the saying before: work smarter, not harder. As cliche as it sounds, this short, but impactful phrase is very true and distinguishes those who want to be successful from those who are successful.

Do you feel like you’re super busy from day to day, but you’re not progressing as quickly as you should? Do you spend your entire day working and never really get anything completely done, leaving you feeling unaccomplished? If you do, that’s a sign that you’re indeed working hard, but ineffectively. Being “busy” doesn’t equal productivity and if you have a lot on your plate, it’s necessary to plan out your day and manage your time effectively to reach new levels in your endeavors. Try out the three easy tips below to get you started!

You can get a lot more done when you cut out unnecessary steps. A simple example, instead of sending the same email 100 times to different individuals, include them on an email list and send one email to everyone. If you can make small changes such as this to your daily schedule, you’ll free up a lot of your time that can be used to get other things done.

Do you have a strong team/support system that you work with on a daily basis? If so, it’s time to divi up the work and delegate tasks instead of trying to do everything yourself. If you’re not consumed with every daunting task, you can focus you’re energy on the most important things with the biggest return.

Sitting down and trying to get everything on your to-do list done in one setting is not the best approach to conquering your day. Plan out your work so you can get it done by deadline and take your time. You can’t get everything done, but you can certainly do everything. Working on big projects in spurts will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed. By doing this, you may also see an increase in quality of your work.

You may get to a point where you’re not able to work harder, but you can always work smarter.
