With dreams as his driving force, 21-year-old rapper from Prince George’s County, Md. is ready to round up his Grammies and leave his mark on the music industry. Barz, who’s parents named him Christopher Townsend, prides himself on his eclectic musical taste and appreciation for genres ranging from Alternative, to Latin and Afro-Cuban. He grew up listening to Rock bands like Linkin Park and Red Hot Chili Peppers, but learned to appreciate Hip-Hop a little more after discovering A Tribe Called Quest and N.E.R.D. Barz is proud of his word-play and would even call his style poetry.

Barz linked up with his childhood friend and keyboardist, Christopher Barnes and their new bud, drummer Tarek Mohamed to form their music collective Constellation. “We all do this full-time. Music is our lives,” proclaims Mohamed who has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Business. Barnes adds, “This is the gift that God has given us, and if we don’t us it, it’s almost like we’re spitting in God’s face.” These two musicians take pride in their craft and study and practice often and offer music lessons to students.

Barz and the team are currently working on their next EP titled Angels and Jets exploring the paradox that is mankind. “Humans have earthly desires… but how many are reaching for something higher– Reaching for the truth?” is how Barz explains the project’s concept. They are also rapping up their video shoot for their single, “Dreamers” featuring Neo-Soul singer Jessie Boykins III. (This song is featured in the video above.)
