I was planning to share this post before last night’s non-indictment Grand Jury decision in Ferguson, but today it’s even more imperative that Black Americans unite to circulate our $1.1 Trillion spent annually (by 2015).
How crazy is it to think that we are only the second largest racial minority in the country (or 13 percent of the population,) yet our “consumers growth outpaces the rest of the population by 30 percent,” according to Black Enterprise.
While I recognize that your latest Jordan release and popular video gaming console will be missing, it is important that we support our own. We should be buying our loved ones thoughtful gifts that encourage and promote cultural pride and integrity, especially for our little ones. The love that goes into things handmade should not be overlooked simply because it’s not backed by a major brand we readily recognize. Give the little guy a chance and appreciate seeing yourself represented for a change.
